Family Planning

Family Planning, a private, non-profit clinic, has provided the Ozarks with comprehensive family planning services, as a program of the Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation, since 1979.

Parenthood is one of the greatest responsibilities an individual can face. The decision to become a parent requires careful thought and planning.

We believe ALL individuals should be able to plan and prepare themselves for parenthood and that each child should be a wanted child.

The goal of Family Planning is to provide individuals with low cost quality reproductive health care and the information and supplies necessary to make personal choices in determining the number and spacing of their children.

Services
Physical exams are performed by licensed health professionals, including medical doctors and nurse practitioners. Our counselors are trained to provide sensitive education and counseling regarding family planning options.

Clinic Services Include:

• routine gynecological exams, which may include: pap smear, pelvic exam, breast exam, weight and blood pressure check, and hematocrit (test for anemia).
• Screening and treatment of vaginal infections and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
• Pregnancy testing, counseling and referral.
• Training on self breast exams.
• Education and counseling on birth control options.
• Prescription and non-prescription birth control supplies.

Prescription Methods
Medical exam required:

• Oral contraceptives (the pill)
• Depo-Provera (injection)
• the IUD (Intrauterine Device)
• the diaphragm

No medical exam required:
•    Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs).

Non-Prescription Methods:
•    Condoms and foam.

Fees for medical services and contraceptives are on a sliding scale based on income and family size. Medicaid is accepted. No age or marital restrictions for birth control and other services. No one will be denied services due to inability to pay.

Information and Education Services

• Education resources: books, pamphlets, professional journals.
• Education in clinics for patients.
• Programs in schools, community centers, etc. upon request.
