Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP)
The Energy Crisis Intervention
Program works to help families in many energy related areas. The program
receives funds from state and local sources to assist qualifying households
pay fuel bills. It also provides information about alternate energy sources
and education in the area of energy conservation. In most cases,
elderly are not required to have a shut-off notice to receive assistance
from various programs listed below. The programs offered to assist in
energy-related emergencies include:
- Energy Crisis
Intervention Program (ECIP) Eligible households that meet income guidelines
can receive help with utility costs, purchase of heating fuel (propane
or wood), furnace repairs, and other energy-related emergencies. A shut-off
notice is required for utility assistance. Program runs from November
through May.
- Summer Cooling
Program provides assistance with payment of electric bills from June
through September. Also provides fans and air conditioners to qualifying
households. Families must meet income guidelines and have received
a shut-off notice.
- Project SHARE
is a community supported utility assistance program for City Utilities
of Springfield customers. Program runs January through May. Applicants
must meet income guidelines, however deduction for medical expenses
will be considered.
